MIRI – More than 600 businesses are now registered for Covid-19 vaccination thanks to the Miri City Council (MCC).

Mayor Adam Yii said this will expedite the national inoculation drive.

“As part of our efforts to help the Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, MCC has assisted more than 600 licensed premises under its jurisdiction to register their operators and workers for vaccination.

“This will expedite the programme especially for businesses that are allowed to operate during the current movement control order.

“They (business operators and workers) are also considered among the groups who are in constant contact with the general public,” he told reporters, adding that the registration exercise is being conducted jointly with the state Housing and Local Government Ministry.

Registration is ongoing, he said, and businesses are encouraged to sign up early.

Miri, with a population of some 350,000, is one of Sarawak’s urban localities that have been hit hard by the pandemic. Others that have seen high infection and death rates are Kuching, Bintulu and Sibu. – The Vibes, June 11, 2021
