KOTA BELUD – Sabah police are serious about ridding the state of its image as a transit point for drug trafficking in the region.
State police chief Datuk Hazani Ghazali said this after Indonesian authorities crippled 13 drug-trafficking syndicates that were using Sabah as their transit point.
“Up till this point, Indonesian authorities have crippled 13 groups found to be smuggling drugs from Sabah.
“This is the biggest success by Indonesian authorities – 200kg of drugs that were seized had been brought in from Sabah prior to them being exported to the neighbouring country,” he told a press conference during the handover of duties for the post of Kota Belud district police chief from Mohd Airul Sukri to Sahimi Husin.
Hazani warned officers against getting involved in drug-related activities.
“They will pay heavily for their crimes.
“I also call on the public with information on drug activities in their area to come forward.” – The Vibes, June 11, 2021
