MIRI – Sarawak’s daily cases today shot up to 718, 157 of which were detected in the Kuching district.

Two more Sarawakians also died of Covid-19 while another five clusters are recorded.

The latest fatalities involved a man, 75, from rural Pakan, and a woman, 81, in Sibu, bringing the death toll to 358.

Meanwhile, Sibu saw 80 new cases, followed by Sri Aman (76), Tatau (57), Julau (56), Bintulu (41), Miri (40), Song (37), Pakan (34), Kapit (28) and Subis (20), while other districts logged fewer than 20 cases each.

The Jalan Daya cluster in Kuching saw 27 factory workers down with Covid-19 while the Kg Muara Tebas cluster in Kuching logged 14 infected villagers following a social gathering.

The Dalang cluster in Subis district involves 39 plantation workers while outbreaks have been recorded in two longhouses.

The Nanga Strauss cluster in Meradong district saw 29 infected after a social gathering while the Nanga Jejugam cluster in Julau district involves 64 people. – The Vibes, June 15, 2021
