KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Teachers’ Union hopes that they will be given priority in receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

Its president, Said Saidi said that the union fully supports the recommendation made by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) that teachers should be next to receive the Covid-19 jab after frontliners.

“It would increase teachers’ confidence to continue face-to-face teaching and learning sessions in schools when schools reopen in the future, and thus enhancing the Malaysian education system,” he said in a statement here today.

Said said the union supports Education Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Jidin’s announcement to start the one-off scheme to fill in demand for more teachers in Sabah, Sarawak, Johor and Selangor.

The union also hopes for better internet connectivity in rural areas, and more ICT and education digitalisation courses to be provided for teachers, so as to cope with the online home learning required for all schools today. – The Vibes, June 20, 2021
