SANDAKAN – Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said a viral photo of him at a table with a dish of turtle eggs was edited as part of a political ploy.

The Sabah deputy chief minister in a Facebook post tonight shared photos of himself holding up three eggs, and said: “There are still eggs yet to be eaten, so I’m uploading this myself. No need to wait for other people to edit and play politics.”

He did not specify what kind of eggs he is holding in the photos, but they do not appear “dented” like those of turtles.

Warisan vice-president Datuk Junz Wong was one of the first to share the photo of Bung Moktar that sparked controversy.

Speaking to The Vibes, he said he was told by a friend that the picture was taken at Bung Moktar’s Hari Raya open house recently.

Sabah portal Daily Express reported that the state Umno chief described the photo implicating him as “fitnah” (slander) by irresponsible quarters “out to sink my political career with cheap shots”.

Rozamshah Ismail, a Lamag community development officer who is seen next to Bung Moktar in the contentious photo, has said the image was edited. – The Vibes, June 25, 2021
