Meanwhile, a new outbreak due to social gatherings at two longhouses in Betong district erupted today in what is known as the Ngelutong cluster.
A total of 39 longhouse people were infected there as of late afternoon today. Screening is being done in these two longhouses.
Three other longhouses that are seeing infection hikes have been placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for the next two weeks, said the secretariat.
They are Rumah Nancy and Rumah Langkop in Lubok Antu district, and Rumah Mendali in Betong district.
The Jalan Kidurong squatter colony and Jom Ngeten shop block in Bintulu are also placed under EMCO for next two weeks due to infection surges there.
There were 491 new infections today statewide.
Kuching district saw 106 new cases, while Sibu had 79, Bintulu 50, Miri 47, Subis 34, Sarikei 27, Betong 22, and numerous other districts had below 20 new cases each.
The secretariat again appealed for public cooperation to obey all standard operating procedures to halt the chain of infections and fatalities in this state. – The Vibes, June 26, 2021
