MIRI – Sarawak is extending its full movement control order (FMCO) until further notice, a day before it is slated to end.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee in a statement today said the decision is made following the high number of daily Covid-19 cases.

“The MCO will be extended (until further notice) and all standard operating procedures will be maintained.”

It said college and university students leaving for their studies must apply for the Covid-19 vaccination, and send their application to [email protected] to arrange their appointment.

Sarawak recorded 513 new coronavirus cases and three deaths today, bringing the death toll to 404.

A 54-year-old woman from Subis and a 62-year-old man from Beluru died at Miri Hospital, while a 73-year-old man died at Bintulu Hospital.

Of the fresh infections today, Sibu recorded 89 cases, followed by Telang Usan (70), Bintulu (68), Kuching (63), Bau (43), Sri Aman (41), Miri (24) and Sarikei (22), while other districts have fewer than 20 each.

Four more longhouses have been placed under an enhanced MCO – Rumah Charlee in Tatau, Rumah Sibat in Bintulu, as well as Rumah Jerome and Rumah Jumbun in Sarikei.

The Ling Hock Transport workers’ housing quarters in Bintulu have also been placed under EMCO. – The Vibes, June 27, 2021
