GEORGE TOWN – The Sri Ananda Bahwan chain of restaurants is set to offer its delicious chicken biryani and teh-o set for free from today onwards until July 4, for those who have been vaccinated so far in a bid to encourage the government’s national vaccination programme.
Its managing director V. Harikrishnan said the programme was in-line with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the government’s aim of achieving herd immunity to curb the pandemic’s spread and overcome the surge of infections in the country.
“We wanted to encourage and give confidence to the people to be vaccinated as the government’s statistics showed people are still shying away from getting vaccinated due to lack of confidence and fear,” he said in a statement today.
Sri Ananda Bahwan, which operates in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Butterworth, Sg Petani, Kulim, Bukit Mertajam, and Ipoh will offer the free set meal for any type of vaccination.
Harikrishnan said customers just need to present their MySejahtera digital certificates at any of their restaurants to redeem the free meal.
“The redemption can be made between 11am to 2pm, once per individual.
“The offer will be continued occasionally as a token of appreciation to encourage vaccination against the pandemic,” he added.
Similarly, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Zin also launched a lucky draw programme for his constituents earlier this month in an effort to boost vaccination, offering RM1,000 cash prizes each month.
86-year-old Saw Hong Chee was the first lucky draw winner.
Sim said the campaign was aimed at expediting inoculations to achieve herd immunity in the constituency. – The Vibes, June 28, 2021
