KUALA LUMPUR – Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has lodged a report against former Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam for alleging that the minister is lobbying Umno party members to join Bersatu.

Ismail Sabri’s political secretary, Datuk Syed Mohd Fazmi Sayid Mohammad, filed the report on behalf of the minister at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here today.

Syed Fazmi said a Facebook account allegedly belonging to Lokman Noor had posted a video containing the accusation on July 4.

“The Facebook account (allegedly) belonging to Lokman Noor has accused Ismail Sabri of attempting to convince Umno parliamentarians to become Bersatu candidates if they are not selected as Umno candidates in the 15th general election,” he told reporters after filing the report.

Syed Fazmi said he has urged police to investigate the matter under the Sedition Act 1948, Anti-Fake News Act 2018 (Act 803) and Multimedia and Communications Act 1998, as the remarks are slanderous towards his boss.

Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, insisted he has never made such remarks, he added.

Syed Fazmi discovered the post when he was at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur at 11am on July 4. The video stretches for more than an hour.

“After studying the contents of the video, I found that it is clearly slanderous… towards Ismail Sabri,” said Syed Fazmi.

“I was told by Ismail Sabri that he has never made the statements (to Umno members).”

He said the post has yet to be deleted. – The Vibes, July 5, 2021
