KUALA LUMPUR – Khairy Jamaluddin today said an integrity and investigative committee comprising police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, among others, has been established under the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to probe into the alleged sale of vaccination slots.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said other members of the panel are CITF personnel and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

“In addition, guidelines on vaccine monitoring and standby list preparations have been established for vaccination centres (PPVs) to ensure there is no abuse of power,” he said in a statement.

He said CITF has been working with police in investigations into the matter since last month, and that the public will be informed of any developments.

PPVs will see a “capacity upgrade” with the introduction of two factors with regard to appointment validation and the increase in the number of recipients, he said.

On the standard operating procedures in place, Khairy said should there be coronavirus-positive individuals present at PPVs, the centres concerned will be immediately sanitised, contact tracing launched, and staff tested for Covid-19.

“I have also instructed all PPVs to conduct more thorough inspection at their entrances, to ensure that people with certain risk statuses do not enter.”

He urged those awaiting their Covid-19 test results to be responsible and not go to jab sites.

He added that preliminary investigations found that claims of expired vaccines being administered are false.

The expiry date shown for the second shot on MySejahtera is actually that of the first dose, he said.

“A data recording error caused this to happen. The actual expiry date will be updated on MySejahtera for the individuals involved.” – Bernama, July 12, 2021
