KUALA LUMPUR – Covid-19 vaccination on a walk-in basis for senior citizens will begin tomorrow, but only for those without MySejahtera appointments, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister stressed that only those without an appointment can use this facility, available at all vaccination centres (PPVs) here and in Selangor.
“Starting tomorrow, Saturday, July 17, 2021, senior citizens who have not received their MySejahtera appointments can walk into PPVs in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur for inoculation.
“I want to stress that the walk-in facility is only for those who have not received appointments via MySejahtera.
We do not want people who already have appointments on MySejahtera showing up at the PPVs early, or creating confusion in the system. The walk-in facility is exclusive to individuals aged 60 and above in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.”
Seniors who do not have the MySejahtera app, too, can head to these centres for their jab, he said.
Officers on duty will take down their details, as well as their next of kin’s information, so that they will be updated on their appointments for the second dose.
Yesterday, the Health Ministry announced that the government will allow walk-ins for senior citizens. However, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force, in a statement issued mere hours later, said the matter was still being finalised. – The Vibes, July 16, 2021
