GEORGE TOWN – After a few months’ trial, Penang’s eighth private medical facility will be opened tomorrow – a timely move amid a pandemic.

The Kek Lok Si Charitable Hospital, the first ever Buddhist charitable hospital in the country, has been undergoing a trial run in the past few months.

Board chairman Datuk Seri Ven Seck Jit Heng said the opening will be held at 8.30am.

“The grand opening will be held at a later date. We have obtained the necessary approval from the Health Ministry to operate the facility.

“Our specialist doctors will also begin their consultations beginning at 8.30am on the same day,” he told state newsletter Bulletin Mutiara here.

The specialist hospital is said to have state-of-the-art medical equipment and services with a 50-bed capacity.

The facilities include X-ray room, ultrasound, CT scan, intensive care units, operating theatres, dialysis centre and general wards.

The hospital is committed to provide affordable and high-quality healthcare services to the community.
