KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested and remanded a man who was verbally abusive towards nasi lemak sellers and a customer after being told to wear a face mask.
Brickfields deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said the man was arrested at his house yesterday and will be remanded until tomorrow to assist in investigations, The Star reported.
In a video that went viral, the man was not wearing a mask and could be seen shouting at the nasi lemak seller, her daughter, and a customer who stepped in during the incident.

The 33-year-old man had caused a scene at the nasi lemak stall in Taman Desa, and threatened violence after he was told to put on a mask by the seller.
Police said the suspect will be investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and also violating standard operating procedures (SOPs) under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
Another video of the same man, this time shouting vulgar words at a gym, has also been circulating on social media since the nasi lemak stall incident occurred.
