KOTA KINABALU - Two more Sabah parties, Usno and Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri, have confirmed they will not be contesting in the Batu Sapi by-election.

This leaves Sabah Bersatu from the ruling coalition of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as the sole party yet to make its decision.

Usno president Ibrahim Linggam and Parti Anak Negeri leader Datuk Henrynus Amin confirmed their parties will not be contesting in the December 5 polls.

Sabah Bersatu information chief Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, when contacted by The Vibes, said his party will make a decision in the next week, on whether or not to contest in the election.

Yesterday, PBS President Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili announced the party would be sitting out from the by-election, echoing the decision by SAPP, LDP, Umno, Sabah Star and Parti Cinta Sabah in electing not to contest.

The Batu Sapi by-election was called following the death of its incumbent from Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Datuk Liew Vui Keong on October 2.

Warisan has remained tightlipped over the vacated seat while an independent candidate, Hamzah Abdullah, has expressed intention to contest.

Nomination for the by-election will be on November 23, and early voting on December 1. – The Vibes, October 21, 2020.
