KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that sports and social activities may be among the privileges enjoyed by fully vaccinated individuals.

He said the relaxation of standard operating procedures will afford the public a much-needed breathing space, following a prolonged lockdown period.

The government is currently assessing what flexibilities or privileges can be provided to those who have completed both vaccine doses, he added.

“In the next few days, I will announce this as a total package of dine-in, sports and social activities that will be allowed for those who are fully vaccinated.

“I hope these (relaxations) can give the people a bit of room or breathing space to live a slightly better life,” he told The Star, following a special interview today.

The Pagoh MP pointed out that Putrajaya acknowledges that pandemic curbs and being made to stay at home have taken a toll on the mental health of the people.

He also added that fully vaccinated travellers from overseas may not need to isolate at hotels or vaccination centres.

“We are considering several options for travellers or Malaysians returning from abroad.

“They could undergo quarantine at home instead of at a hotel or centre, which will be cost-saving.

“A wrist tracker may be provided, and they will probably have to take a swab test before exiting quarantine.”

Though all proposals are still being finalised, Muhyiddin said another flexibility being considered is to allow interstate travel for long-distance couples. – The Vibes, July 24, 2021
