KUALA LUMPUR – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision against declaring a state of emergency as sought by the government shows that the people’s voice is heard, said Lim Guan Eng.

The DAP secretary-general, in a statement, said the king made the right call.

“The decision by the Agong not to consent to the prime minister’s proposal for an emergency to be proclaimed, as there is no need for it, is the right one.

“Malaysians welcome the decision with gratitude. The rakyat’s voice has been heard.”

Istana Negara earlier issued a statement saying Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has decided against declaring a state of emergency being pushed by Muhyiddin purportedly to contain Covid-19.

The Agong also decreed for politicians to cease all politicking that could affect the government’s stability.

Lim urged Malaysians to set aside their differences and unite in the fight against the pandemic.

“This should be done for the sake of our safety and the country’s prosperity.” – The Vibes, October 25, 2020
