KOTA KINABALU – Former Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Sakaran Dandai is being treated for Covid-19 at Gleneagles Hospital here.

His son Datuk Nasir Sakaran, in a video sent to the press today, said the 91-year-old was admitted after testing positive for the coronavirus last Wednesday.

“My father was stable when he was admitted, but the hospital informed us that he had to be placed in the ICU for close monitoring.

“We (Sakaran’s children) had a video call with him to ask about his condition. He is now well, eating as usual. He is being well taken care of.

“He asked us to pray for his recovery.”

Nasir urged the public to pray for his father’s health.

Sakaran was Sabah’s eighth governor, from January 1995 to December 2002.

He was the state’s eighth chief minister from March to December 1994, and Semporna MP from August 1986 to April 1995. –The Vibes, August 25, 2021
