KUALA LUMPUR – There is no deliberation on the dissolution of Parliament during this morning’s special cabinet meeting, said Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Yes, there was a special cabinet meeting today. But no, matters concerning the dissolution of parliament was not discussed in the meeting,” he said after his daily Covid-19 update.

Talks of a looming dissolution of the Dewan Rakyat bubbled up today, after Barisan Nasional MPs huddled for a special meeting at Umno headquarters in the Putra World Trade Centre today after the government failed in its bid to declare emergency yesterday.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong had yesterday decreed that there was no need for a nationwide emergency declaration in order to combat Covid-19 as proposed by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Whether Umno – the party with the highest MPs in the PN coalition – will continue to remain loyal or pull out from the government will be known later tonight.

The party will be holding a Supreme Council meeting at PWTC tonight. – The Vibes, October 26, 2020
