KOTA KINABALU – The occupancy rate for hospitals throughout Sabah remains high at 96.4% as the number of Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment stands at 4,907.

Based on the daily Sabah’s Covid-19 report, a total of 1,580 individuals are currently undergoing treatment at the hospitals, which currently have a 1,639-bed capacity altogether. 
 
At present, there are 11 Covid-19 hospitals in Sabah treating late-stage cases, while 224 individuals have been placed under repurposed critical care, while 90 individuals are admitted in open wards and 81 patients are on ventilation machines. 
 
A total of 3,285 patients are in low-risk quarantine centres, up three new patients from yesterday. 
 
The new patients admitted are part of the 1,560 cases under category 1 and 2. 
 
It is understood patients who are not admitted have been ordered to undergo home surveillance. 
 
Occupancy for quarantine centres stand at 67% with a total of 4,900 beds, alongside an additional 80 new beds added today. 
 
The state also recorded 35 patients held up at temporary detention centres and prisons, while seven patients are in private medical facilities. 
 
According to the state local government and housing ministry’s daily report, the state recorded 2,329 new cases, with 1,560 under category 2 cases and 1,668 under category 1. 
 
“Nine cases were under category 3, four cases category 4, and 13 cases under category 5. 

“A total of 75 cases are still being investigated,” the ministry said. 
 
A total of 1,229 of the 4,907 cases today involve backlog test results registered between two and five days ago, the ministry added. 
 
The state also recorded 33 deaths, down five cases from yesterday, while one new cluster was identified as the Jalan Pahlawan cluster here with 41 cases. 
 
Overall, Sabah has a total of 82 cases in five clusters, namely, Jalan Pahlawan, Sibulu, Lebuh 4, Kg Penangah 15, Sg Pin 17 and Tangkayun 3. 
 
Sabah recorded a total of 38,201 cases in the past 14 days between August 19 and yesterday, while 103 localities are still under lockdown.

The state also recorded 24 infants below the age of 1 infected with the virus; 165 cases involving children aged between 1 and 5; 426 cases involving those aged between 6 and 17; 1,492 cases involving those aged between 18 and 59; and, 222 cases involving those aged 60 and above. – The Vibes, September 2, 2021
