KOTA KINABALU – A family of four perished after their house in Penampang caught fire earlier this morning.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Misran Bisara said the charred remains of the victims were found about 5am after firemen brought the blaze under control.

The four victims were Matthew Wong, 50; Jecky Vun Kon Fung, 48; Brendan Wong, 18; and, Eric Wong, 15.

Misran said the Fire and Rescue Department was alerted at 2.52am and a team of firefighters were deployed. It managed to bring the fire under control at 3.40am.

He said the fire destroyed 90% of the double-storey terrace house and also damaged two cars.

The operation ended at 6.10am. – The Vibes, September 7, 2021
