SEBERANG JAYA – Penangites were seen flocking to vaccination centres (PPVs) as early as 10am today for walk-in jabs.
It is the first day of the state’s walk-in vaccination programme involving 10 (PPVs) – three on the island and seven in Seberang Prai.
Restaurant assistant Mohd Radzi Jauhari, 24, said he has not been given a jab appointment via MySejahtera despite having registered in April.
“I have been registered for a long time, but was not called up. So, I am here today because I work in the food and beverage sector, which requires me to meet people,” he said when met at the Seberang Prai Arena PPV.
Ng Choy Wei, 18, said he wants to get vaccinated as he will be entering college.
“I will be enrolled in college next month, so I want to take precautions even though lessons may be conducted online.”
Individuals yet to get immunised should seize the opportunity presented by the walk-in facility, he said.
“If there is an opportunity like this, why should (getting vaccinated) be postponed? It is better to get vaccinated as soon as possible so that we can prevent the disease from spreading.”
Yesterday, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the conditions set for walk-in jabs include being 18 years old and above, being in possession of a MyKad, and not having registered or received an appointment via MySejahtera. – The Vibes, September 8, 2021
