KOTA KINABALU – Malaysians have nothing to worry about following the security advisory issued by Japan to its citizens in Southeast Asia yesterday, said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The defence minister said he will check with Wisma Putra on why Japan released the notice.
“From the point of real threat in terms of military intelligence, and the confirmation given by Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani (Abdullah Sani) himself, it is something that we should not be worried about in Malaysia,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
Yesterday, the Japanese government warned its citizens in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries of possible terror acts, raising concerns about potential strikes by militants.
A Japanese embassy spokesman confirmed to The Vibes that an email was sent by its Foreign Ministry over the weekend.
An alert was issued by the embassy on its website yesterday morning.
Acryl Sani has given an assurance that public safety and order in Malaysia is under control.
“So far, we have not traced or received any such threat,” he said in a statement today.
He said members of the public need not worry, and called on them to refrain from speculating on the matter. – The Vibes, September 14, 2021
