KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived here this morning for the national-level Malaysia Day celebrations, pledging to prioritise several people-centric projects.

The prime minister, who will attend the 58th Malaysia Day celebration at the Sabah International Convention Centre tonight, said the federal government will continue to focus on the state in terms of development.

The projects involve schools, infrastructure and amenities, said Ismail Sabri, after a briefing by Sabah Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong at Menara Kinabalu.

Ismail Sabri arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport’s Terminal 2 earlier today, where he was welcomed by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and other ministers.

He was accompanied by Minister in Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, and Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

On the floods that hit Kota Kinabalu and Penampang, Ismail Sabri presented a cheque of RM18,241,250 to Hajiji as part of the federal government’s contribution via the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).

Ismail Sabri added that he is aware Sabah requires more funds to repair the damage caused by the floods. – The Vibes, September 16, 2021
