KOTA KINABALU – The first day of the Covid-19 vaccination programme for teenagers aged between 12 and 17 in Sabah has drawn positive response.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Taufiq Yap Yun Hin said that the vaccination centre (PPV) in UMS has prepared 3,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for walk-ins.

“Parents can bring their children to the UMS PPV on a walk-in basis from Monday until Friday, 8.30am to 4pm,” he told a press conference after accompanying Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad on a work visit in UMS today.

The UMS PPV was opened on June 14 this year.

Meanwhile, photographs published by the National Security Council showed teenagers receiving their vaccine jabs at the Mini Putrajaya and Nabawan PPVs.

Vaccination for teenagers in Sandakan will only start tomorrow.

Taufiq said that UMS has also been actively involved in helping the state achieve herd immunity as soon as possible.

This includes providing vaccination in rural areas via its outreach programmes and areas under the enhanced movement control order, as well as Kota Kinabalu Prison. – The Vibes, September 16, 2021
