No press conference dissolving Sarawak assembly: CMO denies reports

MIRI – The Sarawak Chief Minister’s Office has denied reports that a special press conference will be held today or tomorrow to dissolve the assembly.

The office, in a press statement, said that no press conference has been fixed.

“With regards to reports that a press conference will be called to announce that the assembly will be dissolved, this office wishes to clarify that no such press meeting has been scheduled for now or tomorrow to dissolve the state assembly.”

Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Openg also denied that he will dissolve the assembly today or tomorrow or that he had fixed a date to do so.

“It is not within my power to decide. It is up to the Agong to decide whether or not to lift the emergency to allow the state polls.

“How can I fix a date? I am shocked to read the news.”

The Borneo Post, Astro Awani, and The Star had reported that Johari had set up a special press conference to dissolve the assembly.
