KUALA LUMPUR – Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reiterated that the party will not cooperate with Bersatu in the Melaka polls.

Zahid said the decision is final and that the issue of Umno delaying cooperation should not arise.

“For Bersatu, we have made the decision to never cooperate with them... full stop.

“During the Umno General Assembly, we made that decision and that was finalised: no cooperation with Bersatu,” the Bagan Datuk MP said this after holding a meeting with the Hang Tuah Jaya Umno division in Bukit Katil, Melaka, last night.

Present were Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Umno Melaka liaison committee chief Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh and former chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.

He added that Umno has a strong chance of winning the state election next month.

“We feel that there is potential based on the problems faced by those on the other side, who surely have their own issues.

“But the victory of this party will not depend on the problems of others; we need to base it on Umno’s ability to administer the state government again.”

On whether there will be any cooperation with Perikatan Nasional parties, Zahid said this is unlikely.

“I don’t see it going in that direction.” – The Vibes, October 22, 2021
