KOTA KINABALU - The Rumah Merah cluster here recorded 111 cases today, as health authorities completed screening two of the 10 blocks of the centre which houses 1,706 immigration detainees.
“The number of cases at Rumah Merah is expected to increase in the next few days,” said Sabah Covid 19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
This brings the total number of active cases at Rumah Merah to 168, after 333 detainees were screened.
In total, Sabah recorded 529 new Covid-19 cases today.
“There were no deaths recorded today and the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in the state is 15,048,” he said adding that a total of 3,393 patients are receiving treatment.
Of this number, 654 patients have been warded at hospitals, while the rest are receiving treatment at low-risk Covid-19 treatment centres (PKRC).
There are 71 patients who are receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), while 16 patients are under ventilator assistance.
“The Beaufort district has been changed from red zone to yellow zone as no new clusters were reported," added Masidi.
He said 20 beds were added to the PKRC at the Keningau Sports Complex badminton hall, bringing the total number of beds at these low-risk centres to 7,912.
Overall admission rate stands at 42.88%.
Masidi said a total of 128 contract nurses have reported to the Sabah state health department and are undergoing training before they begin as part of the National Health Ministry’s (MOH) efforts in helping the state deal with the Covid19 epidemic.
He added, the distribution of food baskets to the target groups was going smoothly, where to date, a total of 111,442 food baskets have been distributed.
On CMCO monitoring and enforcement Masidi said today, a total of 13 visitors to the entertainment centre and one the owners of the premises in the city centre have been compounded for operating during CMCO. – The Vibes, October 31, 2020
