MIRI – A 17-year-old pregnant teenager has died from Covid-19 at Bintulu Hospital, making this one of 18 new fatalities recorded in Sarawak today.

In a statement, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee secretariat today said the teen had no comorbidities.

She was the youngest victim from the 18 deaths confirmed in Sarawak today, with the oldest aged 97.

The girl was among six Covid-19 deaths recorded in Bintulu, whereas Limbang saw two, Sibu (four), Betong (two), Samarahan (two), as well as one each in Kuching and Sarikei respectively.

The secretariat also pointed out 493 new positive infections recorded in the state today, with 12 of them currently admitted in intensive care units.

Kuching recorded 128 cases, while Miri saw 82 cases. 

There are still 36 clusters left in the state with no new ones detected today.

In the meantime, police have issued 26 compounds throughout the state on those seen violating standard operating procedures in public.

So far, the secretariat said, a total of 11,816 compounds have been issued since the movement control order began early last year. – The Vibes, October 25, 2021
