KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has joined the bandwagon in protesting the proposal to purchase a RM100 million luxury home for convicted former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, following an explosive reveal in Parliament.

Earlier, in the Dewan Rakyat, two-time prime minister and Najib’s old mentor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had disclosed a bombshell during the finance minister’s Budget 2022 debate wind-up, exposing the government’s gift to the Pekan MP.

The Langkawi lawmaker’s query to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz had triggered a chaotic uproar in the lower house, with opposition MPs putting immense pressure on the senator, demanding answers.

Responding to the revelation, Wan Saiful said in a Facebook post that this proposal is “another shameless idea to rob public money”, stressing that he strongly protests against the gift of a luxury residence for the former premier.

“This is definitely in line with Najib’s ‘malu apa (bossku)’ attitude,” said the Bersatu leader referring to Najib’s social media persona rebranding after the Barisan Nasional (BN) regime that he led was toppled in the 2018 general election.

The ‘bossku’ and ‘malu apa’ digital campaign had helped revitalise Umno, and by extension, BN in its darkest days, as it attracted the attention of youth due to its catchy tagline.

“Looks like the poster boy for BN’s Melaka campaign really worships and practises the ‘malu apa’ attitude. He has no shame when it comes to robbing public money.

“For the Melaka election, I challenge Melaka BN, especially Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh as its chief, to condemn Najib Razak’s greed.

“If Datuk Seri Rauf remains silent, then I will consider that he and BN support Najib’s greed. What’s the guarantee that Rauf won’t copy Najib’s greed?” he asked.

Wan Saiful added that the people of Melaka can judge the character of BN leaders, some of whom have made it obvious that they can never change. – The Vibes, November 18, 2021
