KUALA LUMPUR – Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim rubbished allegations that football team Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) raked in riches via development projects in the state.

In an Instagram story posted three hours ago, Tunku Ismail said it is no secret that the royal family has been in business since 1897.

“The royals did not become rich by using money belonging to the government or the people.

“We did not reap the nation’s revenues and park it in another country either.”

Tunku Ismail is believed to be addressing allegations from an unofficial football social media page managed by an individual linked to another football team.

The individual alleged that JDT’s financial success was derived from projects in Johor.

“You think I don’t have money? This is why (JDT) is the most successful football team in the country.

“JDT is not a team that makes empty promises to its supporters and takes money from the state while its residents face water shortages,” said Tunku Ismail.

While the crown prince did not name the other football team, he was likely alluding to the Selangor government, saying that it should funnel allocations for its football team to solve the state’s water issues.

“Until when are state funds going to be used to enrich the pockets of one individual? There’s no use urging your supporters to remain united, when you are the cause of the club’s failure.”

Tunku Ismail’s post also made mention of Izhar Moslim, the former vice-president of Selangor Football Association. – The Vibes, November 20, 2021
