KUALA LUMPUR – The 13-year-old student from Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Sultan Azlan Shah Kuala Kangsar, who was a victim of bullying, is suffering from soft tissue injuries and seeking treatment at a hospital in Selangor.
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid told Utusan Malaysia yesterday that the teenager is under doctor’s observation and in stable condition.
“Based on his medical check-up, the student has soft tissue injuries. He is in an okay and stable condition although he is still in the hospital under observation.”
He added that the teen’s father has lodged a report in Selangor over the incident that went viral days ago.
“We have taken the victim’s statement to facilitate our investigations,” said Mior.
The six students who were detained over the incident were released on bail yesterday.
Another three 13-year-olds and a 15-year-old were detained overnight at the Kuala Kangsar district police headquarters to obtain their statements.
“They were released on bail afterwards,” said Mior.
In a viral video clip, a group of youths believed to be boarding school students were seen punching and kicking another student, prompting public condemnations.
Several video clips lasting between 13 seconds and 30 seconds were uploaded on social media showing a boy, who appeared to be the victim of bullying, being ordered to stand up before he was kicked in the back and punched several times in the stomach by several other youths.
Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred between 1am and 2am on December 9 involving seven teenage suspects and a victim, all aged 13.
Following that, the police said they would be calling all students involved and the owner of the social media account who had uploaded the videos to give their statements to facilitate investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. – The Vibes, December 12, 2021
