[UPDATED] Suspected diesel odour pollution shuts down Sg Semenyih water treatment plant

KUALA LUMPUR – The Sg Semenyih water treatment plant (WTP) has been closed once again, following detection of suspected diesel odour pollution.

According to state water company Air Selangor, following the shutdown of Sg Semenyih WTP, a total of 463 areas in five Air Selangor regions – Petaling (172 areas), Hulu Langat (54), Sepang (194), Putrajaya (23), and Kuala Langat (20) – are expected to experience unscheduled water supply disruptions.

“Air Selangor has activated its Emergency Response Plan to provide emergency water supply assistance to the affected consumers.

“A total of 81 water tankers will be mobilised to the affected areas and critical premises,” the company stated in its Facebook page today.

The company has pledged to provide updates progressively from time to time through its official communication channels such as the Air Selangor app, its Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

“Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted at the Help Centre or the Air Selangor app.”

Sg Semenyih WTP had last experienced a shutdown twice between the end of August and early September due to odour pollution, causing much inconvenience for consumers at affected areas within the Klang Valley.
