KUALA LUMPUR – The recent appearance of former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim on his social media account has sparked more questions over his health and well-being as he has appeared to have lost a lot of weight.

Khalid had shared his latest picture on his Facebook page after celebrating his 75th birthday recently.

In the picture taken with his family, among them including his wife Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, his children and grandchildren.

In the post, Khalid has expressed his blessing for being able to celebrate his birthday with his family at home.

“Syukur Alhamdulillah, I have been given the opportunity to celebrate my birthday at home on Tuesday with Salbiah, Iqbal, Aida and Arif.

“Thank you for the well wishes from all friends through WhatsApp and social media,” he stated in his Facebook post on Wednesday.

Khalid also apologised for being unable to respond to every message and wishes delivered to him via social media.

“I would like to take the opportunity to also pray that all of us are under the blessing of Allah as well as being blessed with a long and fruitful life coupled with good health. Amin,” he said.

However, it cannot be ascertained whether Khalid’s weight loss and gaunt appearance were due to health issues.

Throughout his political career, Khalid held the post of Selangor menteri besar for more than six years from March 13, 2008, to September 22, 2014.

The former Pelabuhan Klang and Ijok assemblyman had also held the position as chief executive officer of Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd, then known as Malaysianised Guthrie, for eight years until 2003.

Throughout his tenure as the menteri besar and as a corporate banker prior to that, Khalid had achieved many successes, especially in empowering the lives of the people, and is considered a popular leader. – The Vibes, December 17, 2021
