KOTA KINABALU – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has picked up a man believed to be part of a syndicate offering to illegally update digital vaccination certificates on the MySejahtera app.

A source told the media that the 31-year-old syndicate member was asking for around RM2,000 from the public to be paid to volunteers working in one of the vaccination centres in Sabah.

In return, those who pay will have their digital certificates illegally updated in the MySejahtera system, even if they have not been inoculated.

The suspect had allegedly committed the felony in October last year.

He was called in to the Kota Kinabalu MACC office today before being arrested at around 1.30pm.

Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrest when contacted. The suspect is now being investigated under Section 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009.

MACC will request for a remand tomorrow at the magistrates’ court in Kota Kinabalu. – The Vibes, January 11, 2022.
