KUALA LUMPUR – Sales of bus and flight tickets for the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Malaysia and Singapore resume today, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
However, the quota for VTL tickets has been reduced by 50% compared to the previous capacity.
Meanwhile, those who have bought their tickets prior to the announcement to temporarily suspend the VTL with Singapore are allowed to continue their journey according to the quota set
As for passengers who have already purchased travel tickets before the VTL initiative was suspended until January 20, they are allowed to continue their journey in accordance to the quota which has been set previously.
“The timeline on the increase in ticket sales quota will depend on the risk assessment that will be conducted continuously from time to time by the MoH (Health Ministry) based on the current Covid-19 situation in both countries,” he said in a statement today.
Travellers are reminded to undergo Covid-19 tests, in line with the previous announcement by the ministry on strengthening existing prevention and control measures for travellers arriving at Malaysia’s international gateways through the VTL initiative.
“They must either take the RTK-Ag self-test on their second, fourth, and sixth days after arrival, or the professional RTK-Ag test on their third and fifth days after arrival.”
In addition, he advised travellers to be responsible and always abide by instructions and standard operating procedures set.
Khairy reminded travellers to perform regular Covid-19 self-tests to update their own risk status and in turn reduce the risk of infection to other individuals.
“This also ensures that cross-border travel including the VTL scheme can be continued in a safe manner.”
The VTL was opened to the public on November 29, with those fully vaccinated allowed to travel between the two countries without having to quarantine. – The Vibes, January 21, 2022
