KUALA LUMPUR – Datin Marina Mahathir has asked the public not to pay attention to rumours about her father Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s condition.

In a statement, Marina said her father is still being treated at the National Heart Institute (NHI).

“On behalf of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, we, the family, would like to thank all parties who have organised prayer ceremonies and yasin recitations, as well as people from various religions who have sent prayers and greetings for Tun Dr Mahathir to recover quickly,” she said.

“We also hope members of the public ignore rumours spread by unverified sources.

“NHI and Tun Dr Mahathir’s family will be issuing statements from time to time.”

Yesterday, two-time prime minister Dr Mahathir was admitted to the NHI Cardiac Care Unit.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was seen entering the hospital premises to visit his former boss and party leader.

It was previously reported that on December 16, Mahathir had been admitted to the NHI to undergo health screenings and was released about eight days later after undergoing several tests.

The 96-year-old Pejuang founder had also undergone an elective health procedure on January 7 at the same facility.

He was later discharged on January 13. – The Vibes, January 23, 2022
