KUALA LUMPUR – The five-digit daily Covid-19 caseload for Malaysia continues with the country logging 21,315 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 3,061,550.

Of today’s cases, 21,228 (99.59%) are in Categories 1 and 2 – 6,200 (29.09%) in Category 1 and 15,028 (70.5%) in Category 2.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 87 cases are in the more severe categories – Category 3 (48 cases - 0.23%), Category 4 (23 cases - 0.11%) and 16 infections in Category 5. 

Dr Noor Hisham said 81 of the new cases today were imported, comprising of 47 Malaysians and 34 non-Malaysians.

He said there were 8,517 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 2,860,954.

He also reported that 199 patients are under intensive care, while 115 require breathing assistance.

Meanwhile, he said that the infectivity rate (R-naught) for the nation is 1.43.

On top of the list is Labuan with 1.90, Sarawak (1.61), Sabah (1.60), Penang (1.44), Perlis (1.43) and the rest of the states and federal territories are below 1.40.

They are Pahang (1.39), Selangor (1.37), Johor (1.35), Kelantan (1.35), Kedah (1.35), Terengganu (1.34), Negri Sembilan (1.34), Putrajaya (1.30), Perak (1.27), Kuala Lumpur (1.22) and Melaka (1.19).

In addition, he said the country has seen a total of 6,613 clusters, including 17 new clusters today.

A total of 6,178 clusters have ended, leaving 435 active. – The Vibes, February 14, 2022
