KUALA LUMPUR – PKR today announced their candidates for the northern zone seats for the upcoming Johor election, with five out of the seven names being fresh faces.

The candidates were announced during a ceremony officiated by party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who also gave a warning to the aspiring assemblymen.

“There are many who were very confident and adamant with their beliefs when we were in power, but the moment they see their pay cheques balloon, they forget all their ideals.

“So to those selected as candidates, there will be many forms of tests and temptations along the way, but you have to remain strong-willed and level-minded not to succumb to ills like corruption.

“It has become almost a systemic problem, so those who do get elected must make sure they stay true to the party and its beliefs and to always stand against corruption,” he said during an event held in Johor this evening.

Among the seven names announced are two incumbents, namely Md Ysahrudin Kusni, who will defend his Bukit Naning seat, and Md Khuzzan Abu Bakar, who will defend his Semerah seat.

The new names include PKR Sekijang division chief Yoong Thau, who will compete in Pemanis; Naim Jusri, who will compete in Gambir, where the incumbent is former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; Azmi Masrani, selected to compete in Sri Medan; Abdullah Sahid for the Sg Balang seat, and Subramani Chami for the Buloh Kasap seat. – The Vibes, February 14, 2022
