KUALA LUMPUR – Despite internet connectivity concerns, the Education Ministry is confident of the preparations by rural students sitting for SPM and STPM examinations

Much of classes these days are moved to online platforms as the Covid-19 pandemic has forced many schools to shut.

Deputy Education Minister Muslimin Yahaya said the students’ concerns are shared by the ministry during question time at the Dewan Rakyat today.

“When we conduct home-based learning, we know not all students have internet access. We know that 36% do not have proper equipment. We are worried there are those who are left behind.

“But at the school level, we are confident in the creativity of school teachers who have also taken the initiative to send studying materials to students who do not have internet access.

“Even though we are concerned, we are confident of our teachers,” Muslimin said in his reply to Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (Machang-Barisan Nasional).

Furthermore, he said throughout the various movement control orders, SPM and STPM students have always been given priority whenever schools are reopened.

At the same time, other studying materials based in RTM and Astro TV have also been utilised to educate the students.
