MIRI – Sarawak’s youth should try their hands at food-related entrepreneurial businesses as there is potentially good revenue to be earned, said State Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Juanda Jaya.
Juanda said youth must not dismiss the potential of food-related businesses as being low-earning or low-paying in nature.
“Youth who are still not employed can opt for the many training programmes in trading and entrepreneurship offered by the government.
“These business ventures can bring in high returns for those willing to work hard, especially in the food sector.
“The government has many training programmes to offer to those who are keen to learn,” the State Public Communications Unit quoted him as saying at a public event in Matu, Sarawak.
The government, he said, wants to see more youth trying their skills in the food industries being opened up in the big state.
Last month, Serian MP Datuk Richard Riot called on young Sarawakians to stop disregarding technical jobs or jobs requiring vocational skills, as they are becoming very important throughout the state.
The Sarawakian lawmaker had said these jobs also offer big paychecks nowadays.
Sarawak, he said, has two existing industrial training institutes, one each in Samarahan and Miri.
He added Serian is set to have such a training institute soon. – The Vibes, March 9, 2022
