KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has logged 30,787 fresh cases, with just over a third recorded in the Klang Valley as the country prepares to move into the endemic stage.
This also brings the cumulative total to 3,741,986 infections, according to CovidNow data as of midnight.
Another 70 deaths were reported, of which 19 are classified as brought-in-dead.
Perak has the most reported deaths with 20, followed by Selangor (11), Johor (10), Kelantan (9), Kedah (7), four each in Negri Sembilan and Sabah, Pahang (3), and one each in Perlis and Terengganu.
Selangor remains the state with most fresh cases, logging 7,525 infections, followed by Kedah (2,927), Kuala Lumpur (2,919), Penang (2,773), Johor (2,220) and Negri Sembilan (2,115).
States with less than 2,000 cases are Sarawak (1,963), Kelantan (1,637), Pahang (1,601), Perak (1,469), Terengganu (1,236), Sabah (1,154), Melaka (732), Perlis (248), Putrajaya (139) and Labuan (129).
Meanwhile, four more clusters are detected, bringing active clusters to 419. The Tebingan Sg Kuching community cluster, which includes Sarawak’s capital city and Kepong here, has 22 cases with a positivity rate of 36.7%.
Sarawak has another cluster – DTI Semuja 3 in a Serian immigration detention centre – with 19 cases and a positivity rate of 6.4%.
Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Burung workplace cluster in Kepong recorded 14 cases, while Kelantan’s Taman Putra education cluster has 10 infections.
CovidNow also showed that 8,750 patients are hospitalised, with 160 under intensive care and 229 with ventilator aid.
In addition, Kelantan has hit 80.4% of its ICU bed usage, followed by Kuala Lumpur (73.1%), Johor (71.1%), Selangor (64.8%), Penang (64.7%), Putrajaya (60%), Perak (59.8%), Sabah (56.6%), Kedah (55.5%), Perlis (52.6%), Melaka (52.2%), Sarawak (49.3%), Terengganu (49.2%), Pahang (48.3%), Negri Sembilan (39.2%) and Labuan (16.7%).
As for hospital bed utilisation, Melaka logged 81.8% with Terengganu in close second with 81.2%. This is followed by Penang (78.4%), Kedah (78.0%), Perlis (76.7%), Pahang (76.4%), Johor (75.8%), Kelantan (73.9%), Selangor (73.9%), Perak (68.1%), Sarawak (66.3%), Sabah (62.1%), Kuala Lumpur (58.3%), Negri Sembilan (55.3%), Putrajaya (51.5%) and Labuan (31.8%). – The Vibes, March 11, 2022
