KUALA LUMPUR – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak questioned why Lim Kit Siang was not compounded for hugging DAP members after his retirement as party secretary-general.

Najib’s comments come after both Lim and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 today.

Anwar was also seen with Lim yesterday at DAP’s national congress.

Taking to Facebook, Najib first wished Lim a speedy recovery before pointing out that the Iskandar Puteri MP was seen hugging other DAP members.

He then questioned why artists participating in Anugerah Juara Lagu were issued compounds for hugging guests while Lim got away scot-free.

“I don’t come with bad intentions, but this is the gang that enjoys accusing me of violating SOPs, so much so that Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has issued fines against me many times,” Najib posted on Facebook.

The Pekan MP also recommended that DAP lawmakers who hugged Kit Siang at the congress should be quarantined and refrain from entering Parliament.

“This could cause the whole Dewan Rakyat to get infected. Nevertheless, I hope they are safe from the Covid-19 infection,” Najib added.

This afternoon, it was reported that Lim tested positive for Covid-19 a day after DAP’s national congress.

According to his political secretary Syahredzan Johan, this was confirmed after RTK-Ag and RT-PCR tests.

Not too long after, Anwar was also reported to have been infected by the virus.

According to Anwar’s private secretary Shukri Saad, the Port Dickson MP will undergo a seven-day quarantine. – The Vibes, March 21, 2022
