KUALA LUMPUR – Traffic along Jalan Port Klang came to a standstill today after a container carrying recyclables fell more than 40 feet onto the road below, crushing one lorry and causing another to collide with the fallen container.
Unable to avoid the wreckage before him, the 49-year-old driver of the second lorry was trapped in the cabin of his vehicle before being extracted by officers from the port’s own fire department.
The driver, whose lorry was carrying rubber gloves, was subsequently sent to Klang Hospital for treatment.
According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department’s preliminary report, it remains unclear what led the container to fall from the flyover above.
In a statement, the department said an emergency call was received at 1.17pm and a fire truck from the Kota Raja station arrived at the scene some 20 minutes later. – The Vibes, April 5, 2022
