KUALA LUMPUR – Up until November 7, the government has collected a total of RM20.74 million in compounds against those who violated Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Health Ministry.
In a written reply to Lim Kit Siang (Iskandar Puteri-Pakatan Harapan) yesterday, the Health Ministry said it had issued 1,901 fines while the total number of compounds issued by the relevant enforcement agencies stood at 44,958.
“From the total number of compounds issued by the government, including the Health Ministry, up to 23,493 have been paid, amounting to a total of RM20.74 million.”
Meanwhile, the ministry said around 4% of Covid-19 cases were detected via MySejahtera application.
The ministry’s reply to Ong Kian Ming (Bangi-PH) yesterday said these cases were found through patients’ personal health checks on the application.
The app also aided the government’s efforts indirectly where vulnerable cases were identified for enforcement agents.
The Health Ministry has denied that the MySejahtera is utilising a continuous global position system (GPS) and will not be used to track down any individuals as it is against ministry policy and privacy rights. – The Vibes, November 13, 2020
