KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor Barisan Nasional information chief Isham Jalil has lodged a police report against Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, claiming that the latter had issued false and slanderous statements against him relating to alleged leaked PAS documents.

In a Facebook post today, the Umno leader said the report had been made this morning at the Bukit Puchong police station through his officer.

Isham said Sanusi had committed criminal defamation when the PAS election director had named him during a press conference where the latter had said that the leaked documents were produced by cybertroopers from interested parties.

According to Sanusi, such interested parties could include Isham, going on to describe the Umno man as a person with the potential to fabricate such documents.

“In my opinion, the statements made by the Kedah MB have elements of criminal defamation under Section 499 of the Penal Code,” Isham said, calling on police to investigate Sanusi under Act 574 of the Penal Code or any other relevant laws.

“The investigation should be conducted to teach a lesson for those in high governmental positions to be more responsible in issuing statements and refrain from slandering people.”

This comes after Isham had yesterday given Sanusi 48 hours to apologise for his remarks, failing which he would proceed with taking legal action against the latter.

Prior to that, Isham had issued a challenge to Sanusi to take the Islamic oath of “sumpah laknat” if the latter truly believed he was behind the fabrication of the document.

The leaked documents in question allegedly highlight contents of recent discussions between PAS leaders and others from several political parties.

Among others, the purported report by the Islamist party had claimed that PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan and vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar had acted as operators to engage with political leaders from other parties.

The high-level meetings supposedly discussed strategies to face the coming election, with the document also stressing the importance of expediting the court cases involving Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his predecessor Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Samsuri, Umno’s Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who were all named in the report, have rubbished the contents of the alleged minutes

Police have also confirmed that they have initiated investigations into the supposed revelations contained in the leaked document and will be questioning politicians named in the minutes. – The Vibes, April 29, 2022
