KOTA BHARU – A local cosmetics company has denied its involvement in drug trafficking following the arrest of a man associated with the company which went viral on social media yesterday.

Founder and managing director of EY Beauty Empire, Zalina Zahari also stated that the suspect is not the company's chief executive officer as alleged on social media.

Zalina said she is the sole owner of the company that was established using her own funds.

"The involvement of the individual with a 'Datuk Seri' title is solely for the purpose of product promotion and launch,” she told a press conference here, today.

Speaking further on the matter, Zalina said she was informed that the suspect was a businessman dealing in timber and agarwood and that she had no knowledge of his illegal activities until it was reported by the media yesterday.

She said to clear the allegations against her, she had lodged a police report at the Kota Bharu district police headquarters, adding that she believed in the credibility of the police to further investigate the matter.

The entrepreneur pleaded with social media users to stop linking her company with any illegal activities and to delete such posts as legal actions would be taken against those who made the allegations against her company.

It was reported yesterday that the police busted an international drug trafficking syndicate with the arrest of its leader who was believed to be a cosmetics entrepreneur from Kelantan and his brother.

Police also seized syabu weighing 126.86 kilogrammes worth RM5 million in the raid on Tuesday. – Bernama, November 14, 2020
