KOTA BARU – Uniting the Malay-Muslims under the Muafakat Nasional banner remains the best formula to improve national harmony, said PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

He said the idea conceived by PAS and Umno is open to any political party, civil society groups and individuals who have the same goals.

“This is why PAS is still championing ummah unity, especially among Malay-Muslim and bumiputera parties, as well as non-Malay parties that are not extreme,” he said, reiterating the recent message by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He added that ummah unity is necessary to improve the country’s harmony in the future.

“We need unity and also power sharing among all ethnicities, races and religions in our country.”

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said the Save Kelantan Alliance is part of vibrant politics in a democratic country.

“It is up to them… more importantly, PAS is clear on its vision and readiness,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama here.

So far, Umno has shown no interest in reconciling with PAS, as the Islamist party kept its ties with Bersatu and its Perikatan Nasional coalition. – The Vibes, May 6, 2022
