NEGERI Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, said the list of State Executive Council (Exco) members will be discussed with the Umno President before being presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan in the near future.

He said he had informed the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan when he appeared before him after the Menteri Besar swearing-in ceremony earlier today.

"I have informed Yang di-Pertuan Besar that I will first discuss with the Umno President, get his views, as there are some suitable proposals to be considered.

"We will try to complete it by Friday at the latest. If we have time... God willing. "If it's Tuanku, he would like to resolve it as soon as possible," he said at his first press conference after being sworn in as the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

Commenting on the participation of Perikatan Nasional (PN) representatives in the Exco ranks, he said that the formation of the state government will be done jointly, hence all parties will be given attention.

He said that this included BN component partners who won the election.

"We are forming a joint government, and of course, we will take into account the State Assemblymen (ADUNs) representing PN and the ADUNs representing Barisan Nasional (BN).

"BN is not only made up of Umno, but also the MCA and MIC component parties. We will pay attention to all of this in the formation of the State Executive Council," he said.

Asked whether the number of Exco members would be reduced or if there were portfolios that would be dropped, he said that the matter had not yet been considered, as was the position of Senior Excos. – August 2, 2026
