KUALA LUMPUR – Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has informed that disruptions to the Kelana Jaya LRT line earlier today were caused by a train that was grounded due to brake system problems.

In a statement today, Rapid chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said that the incident had happened at 8.16am and saw the train involved being grounded at the Taman Jaya LRT station.
This then resulted in only one track being available between the LRT stations of Taman Jaya and Taman Bahagia.
Amir said that operation parties had activated alternative service plans for passengers coming from Gombak and Putra Heights by requiring them to disembark at LRT Asia Jaya and getting on the next train.
“We would like to apologise to all users who have experienced delays and difficulty in getting to their destination, especially work, this morning.
“Investigations will be carried out to identify the cause of damages and to ensure that the incident can be avoided in the future,” he said, adding that operation staff have been stationed at platforms, and announcements on train service delays were made inside trains.
A press conference will be held by Amir later today at 4.15pm to elaborate on the matter.
Free shuttle buses to ferry passengers from LRT Universiti to the Kelana Jaya station and vice versa are also being provided.

Checks by The Vibes at around 10.30am on a Kelana Jaya line train showed that stops at each station were lengthened, with some stations seeing close to a 10-minute wait.
