MIRI – Sarawak has lifted all Covid-19 related restrictions ahead of the Gawai Dayak celebration that falls on June 1.
In a public notice issued by the State Disaster Management Committee today, all Gawai prayer rituals and gatherings are open to all with 100% capacity allowed at venues.
Those who are not feeling well are advised to stay home.
Sarawak has more than 1 million Dayaks in its 3 million population.
The first day of Gawai is on June 1 and festivities usually last for one month.
Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian warned that the state may see a surge in Covid-19 cases after Gawai Dayak while encouraging high-risk groups to get their second booster shots.– The Vibes, May 20, 2022
